Euro Paper Talk: Tottenham locked in talks to seal winger loan deal

Tottenham are locked in talks to land an experienced winger on loan from Italy, while Mauricio Pochettino wants to bring a Manchester City legend to PSG – all in Friday’s Euro Paper Talk.

Tottenham are reportedy locked in talks with Inter Milan over a potential loan deal for winger Ivan Perisic.

The 31-year-old helped Bayern Munich win the Champions League last season while on loan at the German giants.

The Croatian star has struggled for regular game time under Antonio Conte at Inter this term, however, and is open to a short-term switch.

Foot Mercato (as cited by the Daily Mail) claims that Jose Mourinho holds ‘great interest’ in Perisic, with discussions between both  clubsalready underway.

The forward, who scored seven goals for Bayern last season, is under contract at Inter until June 2022.

He has made 21 appearances for the Italian giants this season. However, only 11 of those have been starts and he has two goals and two assists to his name.

Despite his struggles, the same publication believes that Perisic is still interesting a number of top clubs.

The experienced attacker was linked with Manchester United during Mourinho’s time at Old Trafford, so it comes as no surprise that the Portuguese has retained his interest.

The report adds that Mourinho may be edging closer to finally securing his target, although the news could come as a blow to Gareth Bale.

The Spurs legend has failed to find his spark so far after arriving on loan from Real Madrid.

The Wales winger is currently sidelined with another injury, and the potential arrival of another winger would certainly do his chances of an extended Tottenham stay major harm.

If Perisic does arrive in north London, he will compete with the likes of Bale, Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn for a starting spot – with Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min nailed on starters.
