Man Utd are closing on the signing of a Porto star, to leave Tottenham favourites for a Spain, while Arsenal are being linked with players from Spain and Portugal, according to Tuesday’s Euro Paper Talk.
WOLVES STAR KEY TO MAN UTD’S ALEX TELLES RAID
Manchester United are growing increasingly confident of reaching a deal to sign Porto full-back Alex Telles.
United’s summer business finally got underway last week when an initial €39m deal for Donny van de Beek was struck.
The Red Devils have been advised that they need at least two more signings this summer if they are to close the gap on Liverpool. As such, there is a breakthrough, of sorts, in negotiations for Jadon Sancho.
As well as adding pace to his right wing, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also in the market for a new left-back.
As such, it was reported on Monday that the agent of Porto star Telles had flown into the UK for talks with United.
Now, according to A Bola, those talks have progressed nicely. Furthermore, they state United are ‘quite committed’ to reaching an agreement over the Brazilian’s signing.
United would need to fork out €30m for Telles, though the Portuguese paper has an interesting twist on the saga. They state Porto will only grant United permission to land Telles once they have secured a replacement. And the man at the top of their wish-list is Wolves star Ruben Vinagre.
The 21-year-old joined Wolves from Monaco in 2018 and made 33 appearances in all competitions last season.
United’s move for Telles, meanwhile, will allow Tottenham to sign another of their reported targets, Sergio Reguilon.
Reguilon looks set to leave Real Madrid this summer, despite dazzling during a year’s loan with Sevilla.
Chelsea were also keen until they landed Ben Chilwell. And United’s capture of Telles will leave Tottenham with a clear path to his signature.
The Spain cap is also rated in the €30m bracket and is seen as a long-term successor to Danny Rose.
