Euro Paper Talk: Tottenham talks over €45m duo as defender, striker are identified; Dutch star to respond to €55m Man Utd bid

Tottenham are looking to make two early forays into the summer transfer market by initiating talks with a €45m-rated duo, while Man Utd will soon discover if they can sign a €55m Dutch target, according to Wednesday’s Euro Paper Talk.

TOTTENHAM LOOK TO SIGN GUIRASSY AND SMALLING

Tottenham are ready to meet the €20m asking price for Amiens forward Serhou Guirassy after sending scouts to check on him in recent weeks.

The 23-year-old striker has caught the eye this season and has been watched a number of times by the club’s European scout Brian Carey, who was in the stands to watch Guirassy in action on Saturday during his side’s topsy-turvy 4-4 draw with PSG.

Guirassy has reportedly been identified as Tottenham’s prime target to play deputy for Harry Kane next season and his asking price of €20million is unlikely to deter Jose Mourinho’s side, with their need to bring in attacking reinforcements exasperated by the injuries sustained to both Kane and Heung-min Son of late.

As per Le 10 Sport, Amiens are happy to cash in on a player they signed for just €1million from FC Koln last summer, with his valuation rocketing on the back of a season that has seen the former France U20 striker register eight goals in 21 appearances this season.

The 6ft 2in striker has also been linked with Celtic as a possible successor to the in-demand Odsonne Edouard, while Aston Villa and Leicester have also made regular checks on him over the course of the season.

However, it’s claimed Spurs have an advantage over their rivals having already made contact with his agent over a prospective move to north London.

Spurs, however, are not done there with reports in the Italian media going big on claims that Mourinho and Spurs are also in talks with the agent of Chris Smalling to take the player back to the Premier League from Roma.

The 30-year-old has excelled during his time on loan in Serie A but il Corriere dello Sport claims the capital club are struggling to negotiate his permanent transfer with Manchester United demanding €25million for the 31-times capped England centre-half.

However, the same publication claims the asking price is no issue to Tottenham with Mourinho reportedly deciding that Smalling is the man he wants to replace Jan Vertonghen, with the long-serving Belgian poised to leave as a free agent at the end of his contract this summer.
