Euro Paper Talk: Chelsea ‘agree’ record Havertz fee; Spanish duo to follow

Chelsea are ready to spend a huge €119m with two Spanish stars set to follow Kai Havertz to Stamford Bridge, Leeds want an AC Milan star, while Ronald Koeman wants a Man Utd flop at Barcelona, according to Friday’s Euro Paper Talk.

Chelsea are reportedly on the brink of agreeing a deal for Kai Havertz with his transfer set to be finalised possibly by the weekend.

The Blues have already agreed terms with the 21-year-old, with the transfer fee the only sticking point.

Indeed, Leverkusen’s sporting director Rudi Voller has insisted there will be no discount on his exit. According to The Guardian, the German side want €100million (£90million).

On Wednesday, the newspaper also claims Chelsea have had a new bid of €65million (£58.6million) rejected.

The offer also includes €15million (£13.5million) in add-ons but nevertheless falls at least £18million short of Leverkusen’s asking price.

However, productive talks over the past two days have seen headway being made.

Reports in the German media now expect a compromise deal of €86m to be struck. That is below Bayer Leverkusen’s €100m valution, but still some way north of Chelsea’s opening gambit. The £77.2m deal will represent a club-record fee for Chelsea. Havertz will also become the third costliest player in British history behind Paul Pogba and Harry Maguire.

Furthermore, Sky Italia report Bayer Leverkusen have moved to sign Roma’s Patrik Schick as his replacement.

The Czech forward spent this season on loan with RB Leipzig but Bayer look set to beat them to his permanent €25m signature.

The Blues won’t stop at Havertz either.

Reports in the Spanish media claim Chelsea have also lined up two more impressive signings.

As per Sport, are keen on a deal for Espanyol midfielder Nico Melamed, who can leave for €8m this summer.

The teenager has just a handful of appearances to his name but is tipped for big things. A clause in his contract allows him to move on for €8m this summer and Sport claims Chelsea are pursuing his signature.

The same paper also believes the Blues will soon wrap up a deal for on-loan Sevilla man Sergio Reguilon. The state the Chelsea hierarchy believe his €25m asking price is something of a “bargain”.

Chelsea will follow up their interest with a firm bid once Sevilla’s involvement in the Europa League final is done on Friday night. A report earlier this week said Real would insist on a buy-back clause in any deal that takes Reguilon to London.

Deals for all three players will set Chelsea back a cool €119m (£106.8m).
