Euro Paper Talk: Triple Liverpool transfer ‘revolution’ in place as Klopp settles on dream new €130m midfield duo; Man Utd move for €70m striker as Osimhen dream dies
Liverpool are to spend heavily with a double midfielder deal and a defensive addition lined up, Man Utd have a new top striker target after hopes for Victor Osimhen faded, while Tuesday’s Euro Paper Talk reveals Arsenal have been urged to sign an upgrade for Granit Xhaka.
KLOPP READY TO SPEND BIG FOR NEW LIVERPOOL MIDFIELD PAIRING
Liverpool are reported to have decided on the two names they want to sign to revolutionise their midfield this summer.
The Reds served a timely reminder as to what they are capable of with a thumping 6-1 win over Leeds on Monday evening. However, performances like that have been few and far between this season with Jurgen Klopp’s side still adrift in the race for the Champions League places.
Regardless of where they finish, Klopp knows he has a big challenge on his hands to rebuild their engine room this summer. Both Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will depart as free agents.
And with Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho both suffering dips in form this season, Klopp is ready to spend big.
For a long time Jude Bellingham was the name of the top of their wishlist. However, the costs involved – likely to be around €150m – means Liverpool are no longer in the running.
Indeed, Klopp has now come around to the idea that two additions are better than one in Bellingham.
Now according to Inter Live, a dream new pairing is in their sights to ‘revolutionse’ the midfield.
And the two men in question are Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and Nicolo Barella of Inter Milan.
The two players are both enjoying excellent seasons with their respective clubs. And with 17 goals between them this season (10 for Mac Allister and seven for Barella), they are seen as the dream new midfield combination for the Reds.
Liverpool want to sign Per Schuurs after double midfielder coup
The report claims Liverpool believe they can sign the pair for a combined €130m (£114.8m). Around €60m (£53m) of that will be needed to sign Barella from Inter. A further €70m (£61.8m) is required to prise World Cup winner Mac Allister from the Amex.
Klopp, though, will seemingly not just settle on bolstering his midfield options.
And according to Gianluca Di Marzio, a move will also be made for Torino defender Perr Schuurs.
The Dutchman is a long-term target of the Merseysiders with the 23-year-old on their radar while at Ajax. Now starring for Torino, he is reportedly also on Newcastle’s trail.
However, the Reds plan to match any offer for the Dutchman from Newcastle in a bid to bring him to Merseyside.
Klopp wants another centre-half brought in to challenge first-choice Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk.
A deal for Schuurs will likely result in the sale of Joel Matip.
