Manchester United’s bid to sign Ousmane Dembele looks to be up in flames, Tottenham are chasing a €100m-rated striker, while Arsenal have found a buyer for Matteo Guendouzi, according to Wednesday’s Euro Paper Talk.

Manchester United have suffered what appears another major blow in their hunt to strengthen their attack.

The Red Devils have chased Jadon Sancho long and hard this summer. However, those hopes appear dead in the water after a seeing final £91m offer rejected by Dortmund. As per reports, the Bundesliga side rejected that offer in an instant. They are reported to have told United he wouldn’t leave for a penny less than £109m (€120m).

United, though, did have a Plan B. As such, reports on Tuesday night claimed a €60m deal for Ousmane Dembele was close.

Barcelona are desperate to offload the World Cup winner to generate some much-needed funds. They plan to replace him with Memphis Depay, who is free to leave Lyon for a bargain fee.

However, Sky Germany claim United’s efforts to bring Dembele to Old Trafford have been met with fierce resistance by the player.

They state Dembele, despite his injury frustrations at the Nou Camp, is not yet ready to give up on his Barcelona dream. It’s claimed Dembele still feels he has a point to prove and hopes a season free of injuries will allow him to prove his worth.

Furthermore, it’s reported that Dembele is unhappy at being second choice. Sancho has reportedly told the Red Devils he is willing to wait a year to secure his move to Old Trafford.

As such, United would prefer to sign Dembele on an initial loan. While any deal could contain an option to make permanent, there’s a feeling in Dembele’s camp that he’s second choice.

The failure to strengthen United’s wing will leave Ed Woodward aghast. It’d also see more questions placed on his role at United and their failure to appoint a director of football.

Gary Neville, for one, has already said he’s appalled!
