A Liverpool star is willing to force his way out of the club to seal his next move, while Atletico Madrid have restored Arsenal’s Thomas Partey hopes – all in the latest Euro Paper Talk.
SHAQIRI WILLING TO TERMINATE CONTRACT
Liverpool attacker Xherdan Shaqiri is willing to terminate his contract in order to force through a move to Fenerbahce, according to a report.
Earlier speculation had suggested that the Switzerland international has held initial talks with the Turkish side.
Fenerbahce reportedly offered €1.5million in wages, with Shaqiri’s intermediaries holding out for €3million.
Now, Fotomac (via Sport Witness) claims Fenerbahce are willing to compromise with an offer of €2million per year.
As such, Shaqiri is close to sealing a transfer and, should he reach an agreement, he will ask Liverpool about the move.
However, Liverpool could reportedly cause the deal to fall through by requesting that he remains at Anfield. Therefore, an option on the cards for Shaqiri is to force his way out of the club with a contract termination.
Shaqiri has struggled for game time this season and boss Jurgen Klopp has often not made the reasons for his absence clear.
Indeed, the Swiss star made only his seventh Premier League appearance of the campaign in Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal. His previous outing before that was against Tottenham in January, when he played only a minute.
Shaqiri’s best performance this season came in the 5-2 win over Everton in December.
