Zinedine Zidane prepares to offload a Man Utd target to Old Trafford, while Leeds remain caught up in an unusual transfer saga – all in the latest Euro Paper Talk.
ZIDANE’S MAN UTD MASTERPLAN EMERGES
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is reportedly willing to allow Sergio Reguilon to move to Manchester United in order to build a stronger relationship with Old Trafford officials.
Reguilon is at a career crossroads following his impressive loan spell with Sevilla. The 23-year-old helped Julen Lopetegui’s side to win the Europa League but he is down the pecking order in the Spanish capital.
Indeed, Zidane has Ferland Mendy and Marcelo to call on before Reguilon.
While United have shown interest in the left-back, previous reports say the Red Devils are unwilling to negotiate with Madrid while they insist on a buy-back clause.
However, El Desmarque now claims Zidane is willing to drop that stance and give United a deal on their terms.
Ultimately, the French boss has his eyes on a move for Paul Pogba further down the line, but he has struggled with his own negotiations for his compatriot.
Indeed, Madrid failed last year with an enquiry, leading United to reject any further interest. However, should Reguilon move to Old Trafford, Zidane hopes it will boost his cause when making a move for Pogba.
Pogba has one year left on his United deal, plus the option of another 12 months. However, he has yet to agree fresh terms.
