Everton are reportedly interested in Las Palmas defender Mauricio Lemos, whilst also remaining in talks with Burnley over Michael Keane.

Lemos is a centre-back who can also play in defensive midfield, and was reportedly monitored by Everton scouts last season.

The 21-year-old was a mainstay in the Las Palmas defence as they finished 14th in La Liga last season, and also contributed five goals to the cause.

The Daily Mail are reporting that the Uruguayan U23 international has a £26million release clause in his contract, and the club would have to meet that fee in order to bring him to Goodison, given the Majoran side have no wish to sell.

The defender, who only joined the club from Rubin Kazan lat summer, is reportedly interesting Roma as well as the Toffees, and was looked at by Barcelona before his move to Spain.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman is keen to strengthen his defensive options, and the club are hoping for a ‘breakthrough’ in the talks for £25million-rated centre-back Michael Keane, who looks set to leave Burnley this summer.
