Everton have made an approach to sign forward Lucas Perez on a season-long loan from Arsenal, a report claims.

According to Sky Sports, the Gunners are considering the offer having made Perez available to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.

The 28-year-old was a bit-part player for Arsenal last season and struggled for opportunities under Arsene Wenger.

He was reportedly unhappy about losing the No.9 shirt to new signing Alexandre Lacazette, and has been pushing for an exit.

However, Perez’ agent Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle hinted to Sky Sports News that former club Deportivo La Coruna are in pole position.

He said: “I think the £10.9m (€12m) that Deportivo La Coruna have offered Arsenal is a great deal. Deportivo received £12.7m (€14m) when they sold him to them last summer.

“They are giving everything to make this transfer possible. Lucas wants to play but he has a contract with Arsenal. I am hopeful an agreement can be reached. Lucas wants to play in Spain.”
