Everton and Leeds are both looking to complete the free signing of Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez this summer, it has been reported.

Vazquez, 29, is out of contract at the end of the season. He has rejected the offer of a new deal at the Santiago Bernabeu as it doesn’t meet his wage demands.

He has been a regular starter for Los Blancos in 2020/21. But with the end of the campaign in sight, he looks set for a move in the transfer window.

According to reports, the Toffees and the Whites are both considering his signing. Mundo Deportivo claim that Everton have put an offer ‘on the table’.

Leeds are also a contender to sign him, with Sport revealing how much they will have to pay in wages to convince him.

Vazquez is one of Madrid’s lowest earners despite being a prominent player for a number of seasons. He has made 22 LaLiga appearances so far this campaign.

He has played the majority of his career in a right attacking position. But Zinedine Zidane has utilised him at right-back in recent months.

The Spaniard is said to be demanding a figure of €3million a year after tax, which has not yet been offered to him.

Previous reports have indicated that he would prefer a move to a club with Champions League football. That would make Goodison Park the more likely destination for him than Elland Road.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men are still in with a shout of a top four finish, sitting five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea with a game in hand.

It was claimed earlier this month that the Italian manager wanted to bring Vazquez and his teammate Isco to the club to help keep a hold of James Rodriguez.

The demand for him is high though. Not only are Arsenal and Tottenham also interested, but AC Milan and Napoli are reported to have made offers to the player too.

Unless Madrid have a sudden change of heart and decide to meet his demands, it seems there is going to be a transfer war for the winger as his current contract ticks down.

Everton standing firm on Kean

Meanwhile, reports claim Moise Kean wants to stay at Paris Saint-Germain but any deal to sign him permanently from Everton will be ‘complicated’.

Kean, 21, moved to the Parc des Princes on a season-long loan in early October. The forward joined Everton from Italian giants Juventus in the summer of 2019.

But he failed to hit the heights in his first season at Goodison Park. The Italy international scored just two goals from 29 Premier League appearances and started only six games.

He scored twice in this season’s EFL Cup for the Toffees but Carlo Ancelotti opted to send him across the Channel.
