Everton are tracking Sporting Lisbon striker Bas Dost, according to a report.
ESPN report Everton director of football Steve Walsh watched Dost in action recently in last month’s Champions League defeat to Barcelona. The 28-year-old striker came off the bench at half-time in the 1-0 home defeat to Barca.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman is looking for a targetman after failing to land Olivier Giroud in the summer.
Romelu Lukaku has still not been replaced despite the summer arrivals of Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez and Everton have struggled for goals.
Koeman’s men have scored just four goals in their opening seven Premier League games, leaving them struggling at the wrong end of the table.
The report claims Koeman is determined to sign a forward in January and “he has held a long-term interest in his fellow Dutchman Dost”.
Dost, who has been capped by Holland 16 times, has scored 36 goals in 41 games in all competitions for the Portuguese club, including five goals in 12 games this season.
