Juventus star receives ‘serious’ Prem offer but wants Arsenal ‘immediately’

Aaron Ramsey is prioritising a return to the Premier League and therefore has emerged as a genuine option for Everton, according to reports – but he is holding out for a return to Arsenal.

Ramsey opted for a new challenge with Juventus in Italy after his contract with Arsenal expired in 2019. However, the move to Serie A hasn’t quite worked out for the Welshman and Juventus now see him as expendable. Everton are among those who could bring him back to English football.

It emerged in March that the Toffees could be offered the chance to take Ramsey as part of a swap deal. Juventus are eager to re-sign Moise Kean after he rediscovered his form on loan at Paris Saint-Germain.

Prior to this season, Kean did not enjoy much success with Everton. He only scored two goals in 31 Premier League appearances, which was not the tally expected of a €30m striker.

After being sent on loan to PSG, though, the Italian has 12 goals in 24 Ligue 1 games. Still only 21, he has sent a reminder of how big his potential is.

Now, Everton face a tough decision over his future. They could either hope he continues that form upon returning to the club, or look to cash in while his stock is higher.

The prospect of them selling remains realistic, as Juventus want him back in Turin. According to Il Bianconero, Ramsey remains on the table as a counterpart.

Ramsey has reportedly told Juventus he wants to return to the Premier League. Everton could be a suitor, as Carlo Ancelotti appreciates his qualities.

Hence, Everton have made a “serious and intriguing” offer for Ramsey to consider.

However, it is not clear if that interest is mutual. In fact, the report adds that the only move Ramsey would “immediately” accept would be a return to Arsenal.

He previously spent more than a decade with the club, so remains emotionally attached to them. Arsenal have struggled to replace him, so a return could be the best way for them to do so.

But there is no indication yet that Ramsey is on Arsenal’s shortlist. They are looking for more midfielders as they prepare for Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard to return to Real Madrid, but only time will tell if they consider Ramsey.

Arsenal find creative solution

Reports earlier this week suggested Arsenal could look at another Serie A attacking midfielder to replace Ceballos and Odegaard.

Currently in the final weeks of his contract with AC Milan, Hakan Calhanoglu could be available on a free transfer.

The chance to lure him without a transfer fee has already attracted Manchester United. However, the Red Devils are not mentioned as one of three potential destinations for Calhanoglu in a report from Milan Live.

Instead, Arsenal are said to be competing with Juventus and Galatasaray for the 27-year-old.

Working with a tighter budget – especially if they miss out on European football – Arsenal will have to look for shrewd solutions. Calhanoglu would certainly fit the bill.

The Turkey international has four goals and eight assists in Serie A this season. He would like to continue his adventure in Milan but there has been no progress over a renewal.

Calhanoglu wants wages worth €5m per season, which Milan have not been able to offer. Hence, there could be an opportunity for Arsenal to sneak in.
