Everton, Southampton, West Ham fail in move for Leipzig star
Everton, West Ham and Southampton were all rebuffed in deadline-day approaches for highly-rated RB Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin, according to a report.
The Sun claim the trio of Premier League clubs tried desperately to prise the 21-year-old away from the Bundesliga club, but all failed.
Leipzig were desperate to keep the French forward as they chase a Champions League place for next season.
Thee former PSG striker has scored eight goals in all competitions this season and with Leipzig in fourth place in the Bundesliga they rejected all enquiries about the forward.
Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has worked closely with Augustin while he was in charge of Leipzig, but he refused to admit interest in the player earlier this month, however he is believed to have been very keen on adding the player to his squad.
The report claims Everton made the first move for Augustin in December as they looked at putting together a swap deal involving Ademola Lookman.
Southampton and Wolves then joined the hunt for the forward who was a €13million purchase from PSG in the summer of 2017, while West Ham tried to get the player this week after the injury to Marko Arnautovic.
