Troy Deeney: Accused West Ham in September

Everton will make an offer for Watford striker Troy Deeney in the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Merseyside club missed out on some of their key summer transfer targets and now the Toffees will look to utilise the mid-season market to bring in more players.

Tom Hopkinson writes in the Sunday People that new Everton director of football Steve Walsh – who tried to sign Deeney for Leicester in 2015 – is keen to bring the Hornets captain to Goodison Park.

Deeney, who signed a new five-year deal in the summer, was the subject of a £25million bid from the Foxes in the last window but Watford rejected their advances.

Owner Farhad Moshiri is understood to be disappointed with the Toffees’ transfer dealings and is keen to use the January market to make up for it.

Lucas Perez, who was reported to be a target for Everton, joined Arsenal from Deportivo la Coruna, while Moussa Sissoko was another player to slip through their fingers as he completed a move to Tottenham on deadline day for £30million.
