Former Bournemouth manager Harry Redknapp has issued a warning to one Cherries midfielder amid reported interest from Manchester United.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for England international Lewis Cook amid reports that Jose Mourinho is looking to add to his midfield options this summer.
There are doubts about the futures of Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba, while Michael Carrick will retire at the end of the season, though Redknapp believes that 21-year-old Cook should wait for a few years before making a big move.
“Obviously he’s got into the England team recently and played and did well when he came on but I think this is where he needs to be for a few years,” he told Metro.
“He’s learning the game, still. It’s alright saying he can move on, he goes to a Chelsea or a Manchester United or somewhere and suddenly he’s not a big player anymore. He’s a bit player.
“He’s better off learning his trade here. Playing every week being a big fish in a small pond.”
Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Cook as a £20m replacement for the seemingly outgoing Emre Can.
