HIGH LINE A PROBLEM FOR LIVERPOOL
I think we will dominate possession and expect a better performance than what we have seen recently. Henderson will likely start in place of Fabinho who, speaking of arses, has been playing like one so off to the bench you go. I think this will be starting XI: Adrian, Trent, Gomez, VVD, Robbo, Hendo, Gini, Milner, Mane, Bobby and Mo.
As for the result, well, it’s hard not to see them score, right? Since we thrashed Everton at Anfield back in early December we’ve played 22 games in all comps (minus the Villa LC game). In the first 17 games after that Everton game we conceded just 4 goals (2 of those were at Shrewsbury). In the last 5 games (since Henderson got injured) we’ve conceded NINE. The discipline has not been there since Jordan got injured.
Atletico have struggled tho to score goals in Europe this season averaging just over one per game but Costa will fancy his chances against our right side (as Antonio, Deeney and Wilson have done recently) and expect him or Felix to score but I expect us to score too but it might not be enough. I’m going 2-1 to us and losing on away goals.

Ye I tvibk they will score rob
High line is starting to cause us a few problems now
Going to be very hard to score againest them
I think we are going out but hopefully my negativity is proved wrong and we really put in a performance and get a good result
We could have the played for 3 days in the away leg and still wouldn’t have scored
Horrible team to play againest

Very difficult game!!

Key to this will be a fast start. We absolutely have to come out of the blocks flying before they can get settled. If we continue to see the same passages of ponderous play and dithering about with the ball that we have seen recently, we’re not going to get anywhere. Start to finish high intensity. This is the most important game of our season. With Alisson out and VVD off his game I doubt we can keep a clean sheet here. As of right now I believe we’ll need at least 3 goals to progress.

Such optimism! With Robertson and Hendo starting I expect us to go through, just. Also Salah and Mane appear to be scoring again, no problem.

CHONG’S NEW MAN UTD CONTRACT DISCUSSED
Tahith Chong just signed up for another 3 years. Hopefully Angel Gomes will be next.
Both are in the awkward situation of being too good for the reserves but not good enough for the first team.
Maybe one or both could be loaned to Aston Villa next season if it helps get a deal for Jack Grealish over the line 😉

I strongly doubt Chong will make it at the top level. He may still be young but his reliance on speed is palpable and all I’ve seen from him is bad decision making and bad execution when crossing and shooting. He wins a lot of free kicks and pens because he’s a very good dribbler. Otherwise, technically limited in my view.
His ridiculous hair also makes me wonder how he can see the pitch properly – no serious footballer would be happy to have all that hair waving around his face while trying to make split second decisions – I am sure it affects his peripheral vision.
hatters
Watched Chong many times in the youth and U23s hatters and his problem is that he’s actually half a yard short of pace. Means his strength is not going passed defenders, has to rely more on his passing ability. He’s actually a very intelligent, unselfish player. Not sure he’ll make it either, but I’m also not sure he can be judged from a handful of games with a bunch of players whose strength can’t be measured by what lies between their ears.

JUDE BELLINGHAM SPOTTED AT MAN UTD
More importantly though, we need to get Bellingham. This lad is as exciting a 16 year old I’ve seen since Rooney. Fingers crossed because this is a big one.
jm1502
it’s crazy that at just 16 Bellingham is holding his own in the very physical Championship. As I’ve said before sign him this summer and loan back for next season to allow him to continue developing
homerjay540
As for Bellingham – sign him up! He’s an absolute maestro in a high tempo, physical Championship and is only 16. No brainer that.

About Bellingham at Carrington, might we be doing the right thing and trying to get some of our transfer business done before the summer? If the Euros go ahead some players valuations could shoot up, I think a lot of clubs will try to get business done ahead of time this season. Could be the most boring transfer deadline day ever.

TOUGH ASK FOR ARSENAL TO BEAT MAN CITY
For the first time in what seems ages we are pitted against one of the top sides, a side who have an inferior squad to Arsenal according to No. 1 Wengie Boy fatmop. If we play against City the way we have been playing then we are going too lose. The thought of Xhaka trying to stop Kevin de Bruyne would scare anyone to death.
Once again team selection will be important, surely it’s time to dump the one legged flop that is Pepe, if ever a footballer was wasteful and predictable it’s him. Nelson is far more effective. Let’s hope City have given up on the title and they take it easy saving themselves for more important games in the CL. Interested to see how Mari performs.
The Oracle
I think every one is giving us a free pass on this game. If we can get a point I would be really happy with but think it will be mission impossible. The interesting thing will be how we approach it. Arteta has approached all of his games based on how we play and not adapted to take into account the opposition. I don’t think he can do that this game and I would try what united did and put 9 behind the ball and just try and catch them on the break.
I would play Pat down the middle Martinelli on the left and nelson on the right I would also drop ozil and play Willock as I just don’t see Ozil getting much of the ball and without it he is pointless. Lastly stop this crap of putting Sok right back ! Think Mari should be ok as we probably wont get far from our 18 yard box so he wont get a chance to get turned but this game will be a big ask for all the back four in particular.
stev2bath1
Steve2bath1, agree with everything you have said. City have so much pace and movement and energy in midfield I think playing on the break is our only chance. Try going at them and Xhaka will give the ball away on the half way line and they will sweep past him and the rest of our midfield and cause havoc. I expect Belllerin to play but if he plays the same team as Saturday we are in big trouble. Seems this site has become the two of us talking to each other. Still that spares us from The Stupids Ones inane Ill informed gibberish.

MAN UTD NEED TO DITCH MINO RAIOLA
From reading a brief history of Raiola I think that he’s slowly but surely alienating every big club in Europe. We’re on the verge of not doing business with him ever again, he’s had run ins with Ajax, Juve, Real, Barcelona and I think perhaps Bayern as well. Give it a few months and he’ll have had an issue with PSG too. There’ll come a point where players won’t sign for him because the biggest clubs won’t deal with him.
killyboye
@killy, I just hope we make a point of never signing any of his players again and when Pogba and Lingard leave we leak that to the press
homerjay540
I’m starting to think that Pogba will stay with us. As Raiola has said, there are very few teams that could afford Pogba. Of those sides, maybe Real Madrid, Juventus and PSG would actually try and sign him. At the moment, for the sums involved, I’m not sure that any of them are genuinely interested, I think all of it has just been stirred up by Raiola. Perhaps if he has a good Euros then Madrid will want him as a marquee signing otherwise I can see him staying and signing a new contract.

NO CHANGES NEEDED FOR CHELSEA AGAINST VILLA
We all know that his game carries more significance than the Bayern one because this one gives us champions league football next season. one concern was the injury to Mount, not sure how bad it is. the rest of the team picks itself. Go, Chelsea! go and do the job, United are breathing on our neck, and we need to put a shift every game. to cut a long story short, if everyone is fit, i will play the same team that played against Everton.
Chelsea.man
CM I would go for the same team but I’m still not sure whose Rudigers best partner, between Zouma, Christiansen and Tomori they all have mistakes in them. A win is a win cannot expect them to play like that again in every game.
Blaze
For now, I will also go with the same team because that team deserves to start again. if we press Villa as we did against Everton, we will have a chance in that game. our biggest defence is not who partners who, our biggest defence is attack, and the games against Liverpool and Everton have proven. i hope we don’t let our attacking standards drop.
Wise-fan
The team v Villa will depend who is available to play the team v Everton virtually selected itself due to all the injuries.
Frank has already said he was concerned going into the Everton game about how offensive the midfield was and that was a home game v a team not fighting for their lives like Villa are.
Whoever becomes available though between now and Saturday evening I can’t see too many changes.
Trust in Frank.
