Sources: Club desperate to finalise new contract as Newcastle rival Liverpool, Arsenal for Arda Guler

Turkish giants Fenerbahce are working to try and persuade teenage sensation Arda Guler to stay at the club for at least one more season, TEAMtalk understands.
Guler is an 18-year-old attacking midfielder who spent two years in the Fenerbahce academy before making his senior debut in August 2021. He forced his way into the Fenerbahce team in the second half of the 2021-22 campaign and went on to register three goals and two assists in the final 10 league matches of the season.
Not long after becoming Fenerbahce’s youngest ever scorer in the Turkish Super Lig, aged just 17, the playmaker emerged on the radars of illustrious clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. Fenerbahce managed to keep him at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium though by organising a new three-year contract.
Guler has taken his game to the next level during the season just finished, managing six goals and seven assists in 35 matches across all competitions.
That form has resulted in both Liverpool and Newcastle being linked with his services once again. And those two clubs were recently given a boost when Fabrizio Romano revealed Guler can be signed for just €17.5million (£15m) due to a clause in his contract.
TEAMtalk can now provide an exclusive update on the wonderkid’s situation. We understand that Fenerbahce are trying to convince Guler to remain in Turkey for at least another year, so he can continue his development before making a big move to a major European suitor.
Fenerbahce, who finished second in the league last term but won the Turkish cup, are ready to hand Guler a big pay rise in exchange for upping his release clause and for him staying an extra season.
Guler was a second-half substitute during Turkey’s recent 2-0 win over Wales, and he marked the appearance with a sensational left-footed goal from outside the box. TEAMtalk has been told a host of clubs were present at the international match.
Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal all eyeing player
Newcastle are huge fans of the player and have tracked him for a number of months. But they are not alone as several other Premier League clubs are keen too. Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Brighton were also in attendance for Turkey’s victory.
Major European sides Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Inter, Juventus, Dortmund, Leipzig, Benfica and Porto watched Guler’s brilliant goal as well.
