EXCLUSIVE: Everton fail in late bid as Wolves agree to sign Barcelona star

Everton have failed with a late move to hijack a deal for Wolves target Nelson Semedo, TEAMtalk can reveal.
Wolves have been looking for a new right-back for much of the summer after selling Matt Doherty to Tottenham.
They had a bid for Ainsley Maitland-Niles, which was close to being done. However, Mikel Arteta changed his mind on his future and decided to keep him at Arsenal.
Now with Barcelona looking to sell some of their fringe players, Semedo’s availability was made known to Wolves via super agent Jorge Mendes. He has brokered a number of deals for the Old Gold and has a deep connection in the club.
Wolves were quick to agree a £30million deal with Barca and we understand they are now almost over the line. Wolves just need to sort personal terms and put Semedo through a medical. Our sources say that could be done as early as Wednesday.
Once that is done, the Portugal international is expected to agree terms on a four-year deal at Molineux.
We understand Everton had made approaches through intermediaries. However, their efforts have fallen short and they have been told a deal is done for Semedo and that a move to Molineux is imminent.
Wolves also in talks for Douglas Costa
Wolves are also holding talks with Mendes over a deal to sign Juventus winger Douglas Costa.
The Brazilian has been told he is free to leave Turin this summer and does not feature in Andrea Pirlo’s plans.
As per Italian outlet Tuttosport, Mendes is in advanced talks with Wolves over a move to Molineux for his client.
Wolves have a space in their attack to fill with Diogo Jota having been sold to Liverpool at the weekend.
The fee is reported to be in the region of £25m and in the Brazilian, Wolves will be signing a player with solid credentials.
