EXCLUSIVE: Former Chelsea player on shortlist for new boss

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic is on Chelsea’s shortlist to be their next boss, we can exclusively reveal.

Cottagers chief Jokanovic is a former Chelsea player, having spent two seasons at Stamford Bridge up to 2002 –  before embarking on his managerial career.

The 49-year-old has now established himself as a brilliant young coach, with his Fulham outfit widely considered to be the best footballing side in the Championship – and they are very much pushing for promotion.

And Jokanovic’s performance at Craven Cottage has not gone unnoticed further up King’s Road – with Chelsea now showing a genuine interest.

Whilst Jokanovic is concentrating on Fulham’s promotion push, Chelsea know that he would not be able to reject their advances – should they make an approach.

Chelsea’s hierarchy are covering their bases as they scour the world looking for Antonio Conte’s replacement – with the Italian set to leave in the summer, although some Chelsea fans think it is better that he stays.

But despite the interest in some big names, Jokanovic has a number of fans at the club, including a plenty of his former team-mates – and Marina Granovskaia – who is heading up the new manager search for owner Roman Abramovich, who is understood to be intrigued by the prospect of Jokanovic.

Abramovich never dictates style of play to his coaches, but having Chelsea play with the flair Fulham employ – is believed to appeal to the Russian.
