EXCLUSIVE: Former Tottenham star holding out for Man Utd offer

during the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 First Leg match between Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium on February 13, 2019 in London, England.

Fernando Llorente is believed to be stalling on offers as he still hopes he could yet secure a move to Manchester United, TEAMtalk can reveal.

The 34-year-old is a free agent after turning down reduced terms to stay at Tottenham, where he had spent the past two seasons.

Llorente has a host of offers from Italy and Spain, while some reports suggest Spurs could even try to re-sign him, but his representatives have still had some contact with United – who held talks with the player before the deadline closed.

It is believed United are considering adding a player such as Llorente, given they also have the Europa League to contend with this season.

Alexis Sanchez has been heavily linked with a departure, with the Chilean forward prepared to take a reduced salary to sign up with Inter Milan. That would leave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer very light on attacking options, with Romelu Lukaku already having made the same switch earlier this summer.

Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and teenager Mason Greenwood would be United’s only striker options if Sanchez was to leave, so they are contemplating signing a player of Llorente’s experience to add crucial depth.
