Wigan face a renewed battle to keep attacking midfield star Nick Powell this month, after a number of Premier League clubs joined the chase for his signature.
Derby County and Aston Villa were leading the chase for the former Manchester United man, but sources close to the player have told TEAMtalk that Crystal Palace, Southampton and West Brom have made contact with the League One promotion chasers.
Wigan signed James Vaughan from Sunderland last week to pave the way for Powell’s likely departure, with Latics expected to accept an offer of around £1.5million for the former Manchester United.
Powell struggled to make an impact during his time at Old Trafford, where he only made nine appearances over four years before leaving for Latics in 2016.
Since then, he has restored his reputation with Wigan with his impressive displays helping Paul Cook’s team top League 1 as they seek an immediate return to the second tier following their relegation last season.
