Southend United are set to make a move to try and lure highly-rated Barnet boss Darren Currie to Roots Hall.
The Shrimpers have been relegated from League One following the premature end to the season. They have also just parted company with former England star Sol Campbell, who failed to keep them up. He left Roots Hall by mutual consent.
Now Southend are looking to bring in an up-and-coming name, and Currie is emerging as a big target.
We understand the Shrimpers are aware of clubs in the Championship and League One, who are also looking closely at Currie. The former Brighton and Ipswich winger took charge at The Hive in 2018.
Currie has wasted little time in making a big impact at Barnet, guiding them into the National League play-offs this season whilst also taking them to the FA Cup fourth round when Brentford needed a replay to beat them. His performance have seen him recognised as a manager with huge potential.
Southend are now believed to have put Currie at the top of their wanted list. However, they know they might have to move quick to try and secure his services.
