Sunderland are taking a close look at Coventry City’s Mark Robins as they begin the hunt to find a successor to Jack Ross, TEAMtalk can reveal.
Ross was axed on Tuesday, but the Black Cats were already looking at options.
Daniel Stendel, who left Barnsley on Monday, has already been contacted by the Black Cats – as they want someone with experience at League One level.
And we can reveal that Robins, who is having a fine season with Coventry, is very much under consideration as he is available for a nominal release clause.
Wigan’s Paul Cook is another who Sunderland admire and they have considered him before and could yet make a renewed attempt to lure him from Latics.
We also understand that club legend Kevin Phillips, as well as Gary Rowett and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink have also already applied for the position.
