Wolves are favourites to beat a number of Premier League rivals to the signature of Iranian star Sardar Azmoun this summer, TEAMtalk has been told.
The 23-year-old, known as the ‘Iranian Lionel Messi’, currently plays for Russian side Rubin Kazan and has previously been tracked by Liverpool.
He has a wonderful record at international level with 23 goals in 31 caps – and he is set to be a key figure for them at the World Cup finals this summer.
Everton and Celtic both showed an interest in the summer, and both are understood to still retain an interest in signing him.
However, sources close to the player’s agent have told TEAMtalk they are not alone in chasing Azmoun.
We have learnt that Leicester and Fulham are also keen on landing Azmoun – who is keen to not hidden his desire to play in England – though it is thought to be newly-promoted Wolves who are leading the charge.
