Spain international who fits Edu strategy tipped to solve Arsenal transfer demand

Spain stars Sergio Ramos, Ferran Torres and Fabian Ruiz celebrating in 2020

A Spanish international who Arsenal once missed out on has been tipped to solve two Gunners issues if a fresh approach were launched, per a report.

The summer window saw a distinct change in transfer strategy from Arsenal. All six of their first-team signings were under the age of 24 at the time of their arrival, indicating Gunners chief Edu and co. have their sights set on the future as much as the present.

Relying on younger players generally ensures the road forward is rarely a straightforward one.

However, after a dismal start to the new campaign, Mikel Arteta has quickly steadied the ship with three wins from their previous four league matches.

Their superb 3-1 victory against north London rivals Tottenham typified their resurgence, but came at a cost when Granit Xhaka suffered a serious knee injury.

The Swiss veteran has been ruled out for around three months. As such, Football London speculate Arsenal could revisit an old transfer link in the winter window to ensure too much pressure isn’t put on Xhaka to hit the ground running when he returns.

Firstly, they claim one of Arsenal’s main priorities in future windows will be to land a readymade central midfielder. That notion seemingly rang true even before Xhaka’s injury.

In their words, a ‘central midfielder remains high on the list of positions the club wishes to strengthen’.

Arsenal want Torino and Italy forward Andrea Belotti

Arsenal want Torino and Italy forward Andrea Belotti

Arsenal are reportedly interested in Torino and Italy forward Andrea Belotti, with more updates on Denis Zakaria and Tammy Abraham.

The article then suggests classy Napoli and Spain midfielder Fabian Ruiz could be targeted.

At 25, Fabian is around the age of players Edu has sought to bring on board in the market. His assured displays since leaving Real Betis in 2018 have made him a regular in Luis Enrique’s Spain side.

Football London state Fabian was a target for the Gunners in 2018, but a switch to Italy was preferred by the player.

Fabian has entered the final two years of his deal with Napoli. While there is no indication he is unhappy in Naples, that contract situation could increae the chances of an approach being successful – should Arsenal choose to launch one.

Arsenal compiled ‘300 page’ dossier on Partey alternative

Meanwhile, the agent of PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare has revealed that Arsenal had detailed “300 pages” worth of notes on his client before signing Thomas Partey instead.

Agent Jean Musampa has revealed that Arsenal‘s transfer plans could have gone down a different path.

The Gunners had serious interest in his Ivory Coast international client Sangare when he was at Toulouse. Previous reports have revealed that Tottenham also scouted him. “At Toulouse, he was on the radar of a lot of clubs,” Musampa told De Telegraaf.

“They come naturally. I got an invitation from Arsenal. There they had 300 pages of analysis and data of his game. Thomas Partey, however, was the first choice.

“I thought he would choose the Premier League. But he also liked PSV. He asked, ‘Dad, what should I choose?’

“He wanted to play football and not go to the Premier League at all costs. PSV always plays in the top and plays in the Champions League or Europa League. He can always make the step.”
