Agent makes Fabian Ruiz contract revelation amid Liverpool, Man Utd links

The agent of Liverpool and Manchester United target Fabian Ruiz has revealed that talks over a contract extension at Napoli have been put on hold amid inquiries from big European clubs.

Fabian has impressed for Napoli since joining them from Real Betis in 2018, becoming a full Spain international and attracting interest across the continent.

The central midfielder played against Liverpool in each of the last two editions of the Champions League, and Jurgen Klopp’s side are among those most heavily interested in the 24-year-old.

Liverpool face competition from Real Madrid and Barcelona, who are vying to take Fabian back to La Liga, while Manchester rivals United and City are also in the hunt for the £52-rated star.

Now, Fabian’s agent, Alvaro Torres, has revealed that contract talks have stalled due to a mutual decision.

“A few months ago, we decided to leave the issue of Fabian’s contract to one side. We can return to it at the end of the season,” he is quoted as saying by the Metro.

“It’s understandable that some of the big clubs in Europe are interested and have been asking about him.

“He’s spent the last three years playing at a very high level, he’s managed to lock down a first choice place in the Spanish national team – something that isn’t easy to do with the competition there is, he was the best player at the Under-21 Euros.

“The way he has been evolving, it would be strange if they weren’t interested.”
