Fabregas talks up Monaco starlet in cheeky response to Chelsea links

Aurelien Tchouameni, Monaco midfielder linked with Chelsea, TEAMtalk

Cesc Fabregas reckons Chelsea-linked midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has the potential to become the ‘complete’ midfielder after a promising start to his career.

Having joined Monaco from Bordeaux in January 2020, Tchouameni caught the eye last term. He played 42 games in all competitions, scoring three goals and assisting four from midfield. His contributions helped Monaco to a third place finish in Ligue 1.

The 23-year-old’s displays have also seen clubs from around Europe take an interest.

Chelsea are one of those, with the Blues understood to still be keen on Tchouameni. It was reported back in January that they were ‘tracking’ the promising player- who has been compared to Paul Pogba.

And with Thomas Tuchel said to be looking for midfield reinforcements, he is one of those being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Fabregas a big fan of Tchouameni

Amid those rumours, former Chelsea midfielder Fabregas has tipped Tchouameni for a big future.

Fabregas has played with the France U21 international at Monaco for the last 18 months. Therefore, he has regularly seen his talents up close in both matches and training.

Transfer Chatter - Liverpool identify Wijnaldum replacement, Arsenal to raid RB Leipzig and Gundogan stalling new contract

Jurgen Klopp has identified his perfect Georgino Wijnaldum replacement, Arsenal ready to raid RB Leipzig with a double swoop and Ilkay Gundogan is stalling on signing a new Manchester City contract, all in today's transfer chatter.

And he is evidently impressed by what he has seen. When asked if Tchouameni would be a good signing for Chelsea by a fan on Twitter (relayed in the Daily Mail), the Spaniard said: “He has the potential to be the complete midfielder. Modern midfield player.”

However, Fabregas added that he does not want to see his old employers acquire the services of his teammate in the coming months.

“But we need him still… sorry,” he joked.
