LIVERPOOL FANS NERVOUS ABOUT ATLETICO

Normally a massively tough fixture but this year Atletico are going through a transition year after so many players leaving and new players yet to settle. That’s not to say this will be an easy game.
Atletico have proven a hard to team to beat this year in La Liga but they don’t score anywhere near enough goals. Diego Costa has struggled in front of goal and new mega buy Joao Felix is still young and hasn’t scored much. He’s been ruled out for tonight.
They are not the Atletico of the last few years but they will not be easy to beat. I can see them setting up to stifle.

We have virtually everyone back fit again. I can’t see any change with the back 4 or front 3, the only question is with the midfield. Do we go with our usual tough midfield 3 away from home or go for something more adventurous with Ox or Kieta taking a spot. I predict a team of…

Allison
TAA, Gomez, VVD, Robbo
Hendo, Fabinho, Wij
Salah, Firmino, Mane

There’s still a strong argument for putting Hendo in the 6 position while Fabinho gets up to speed. This is a very important game tonight and I can see us getting a good result.

This is prob the most nervous I have been before a game in 2020 still not too nervous.
Atletico are no walk overs regardless of form plus they have a knack of doing well in the big games. I see us going getting in to the next round but will be closer then some expect.

On a side note i read somewhere that Simeone gets paide twice as much as Klopp!
Well played Simeone well played

AK

Simeone is the highest paid manager in the world

This is going to a horrible scrappy game.
They will try hit us in the counter. Going to be very tough to score

Godin is a huge miss for them

Always hated playing againest costa. Horrible player.

Sean the sailor

We all saw how we struggled away to Napoli earlier in the season, and I expect a similar kind of game – a rugged side who tend to be a tough nut to crack. Players like Mané will be crucial for us tonight in trying to unlock the door, and he’s just come back in time.

MAN UTD PLAYERS RATED AFTER WIN OVER CHELSEA

Superb result though we were definitely lucky.

Bruno Fernandes looks class – imagine if we had Rashford and a top right winger like Sancho in the team ahead of him!

Sympathy for the Devils

Liked the fight tonight. Feisty from AWB and Fred. Shaw and Maguire played well and Bailly was pretty steady coming back. Great goal from Martial but he didn’t do much else, but how bad is James? Bruno put some great crosses in and will only get better. Not great but a very good 3 points.

Oh, and I like Williams more and more with every game

jm1502

Really good fight by the players and a great result at a venue that has been murder for us. Bailly’s pace exactly whats needed alongside Maguire. Bruno’s delivery and passing a huge step up. No doubt we are short on quality – defence, midfield and attack – but great fight and togetherness which was nice to see.

ALWAYS a pleasure to beat those cockney twats…

moral

Agree JM – A lot of very good performances tonight. Shaw, Bailly, AWB and Maguire all excellent with Maguire nodding in a great header. Fred was everywhere, i think I’d be happy going into next season with him as a starter now, if he keeps going the way he is. Fernandes is very good at set pieces, how refreshing is it to have someone who’s corners beat the first man?!

Matic was a bit sloppy at times but was important in the middle, Williams good. DJ was poor again though and Martial very quiet apart from his very well taken goal.

All in all a very good win, great result for us. Let’s see if we can kick on from here!

CHELSEA SUPPORTERS WORRIED

We are linked with Vecino of Inter. I think we have already a lot of central midfielders. No need for another. Except if Jorginho and/or Kante leave(s).

Should we miss UCL footlball, will Ziyech still come?

aindro

Media reports suggesting the club is determined to sign more big name players, probably only rumors at this stage. My only concern will they still come to us if we don’t make that CL place as it seems likely now less a massive change of positive results. We only won 2 games in the last 8 which is unheard off in Roman’s time.

We all support the club irrespective of how well or bad they doing but if they aiming for the very top or if they not we need to know so we can expect the relevant outcomes.

Wouldn’t even worry about Frank’s tenure right now. As safe as a bank (a good one mind you). If he were shown the door I am absolutely certain there would be an uproar. Demonstrations outside and inside the ground. Frank will be given the opportunity to build on what we have right now which is an admirable 4th spot whether we keep it or not. I am sure he knows exactly where it’s all going amiss right now and Hazard without a suitable replacement is right up there at the top of the list together with suitable strike power to support Abraham.

DANIEL JAMES LOOKS KNACKERED

Dan James should be pulled out of the firing line for a month. He looks shot to pieces both physically and mentally. He has zero confidence.

N1xer

Agree N1xer – and about Pogba too. Time to get rid.

Gotta say Luke Shaw was very good tonight, looks very sharp. Bad decision for the Giroud “goal” but apart from that I thought he was excellent. Seems to have the beating of most players for pace when he gets going.

happyhurling

I have to agree with everyone here about James. He is completely shot of confidence, he seems to have forgotten he is quick and barely goes for the byline anymore.

On Bailly, he did some brilliant sweeping defending at times but his hallmark lapses of concentration put us under pressure several times.

The real reason for me writing this post is my excitement about Bruno Fernandes. I noticed he very often lost possession because of the pace of the game but I expect him to adjust eventually, hopefully quicker than Fred. My real excitement comes from the glimpses of quality I saw from him where he releases the ball forward into feet early – weighted balls, first time passes, early balls around the defenders with the outside of the foot etc; he’s got a brilliant passing range and this team better learn to make runs ASAP. Secondly, we finally have a set-piece specialist; the quality coming off Fernandes’ boot rattled the Chelsea frame and then fizzed onto Maguire’s head in the space of minutes – this is the type of game-changing quality dead balls we have been missing for years and the statistic that we hadn’t scored from a corner since September 2018 against West Ham is damning.

Having said that, now that we have a proper no8 who has the passing range, technical ability, and doesn’t ignore his defensive responsibilities – Pogba and his agent can fuck right off. As soon as Pogba is fit Ole should tell him he has the rest of the season to prove his form and fitness; after that he can pack his bags and do one.

WHERE DO CHELSEA GO FROM HERE?

Now after the dust settles, and everyone vents their anger, the question that begs to ask is, where do we go from here? isn’t it the time that we change our playing style? isn’t it the time that some players are dropped? losing to that crap United team three times in a season is a painful one to take. Frank has been stubborn lately., he knew Batshauyi has been finished at the club. and Giroud was the better option, but still opted to play him? certain players are out of form in the winter period.

I would restore Kepa because he has been dropped for two games and we have conceded 4 goals suggests he is not the problem. Reece James is very solid, but I’m not sure if Azpi is similar. so Lampard new United would deploy 5 at the back, why not select Alonso and play wing backs? I’m comfortable with Christensen at the heart of our defence. where is Tomori, please?

Chelsea.man

GK: I don’t think Willy can do anything about their 2 goals and I think he will be our first choice GK next match too.

Def: Despite our bad performance in the back today, I think we need to keep the stability, we should not shuffle too much. I would try playing 3 back (Rudiger, Christensen, Azpi/Zouma) in the next match to accommodate Alonso, who can be very dangerous in attack.

Mid: Enough with Jorginho. I think he is too easily readable. And Barkley’s creativity would have been useful against a solid Man Utd’s defense. Unfortunately Kante was injured too early. Would have been great to see Barkley, Kante and Mount in our midfield.

Fwd: Michy is not Chelsea quality. Giroud was good today but I am afraid it’s not enough. Just hoping Tammy will be fit for the weekend against Spurs. Pedro was surprisingly energetic but Willian IMO was disappointing.

Really a bad defeat against Man Utd. They were not that superior than us but they scored and we did not. No idea why Maguire stayed on the pitch, but VAR has its good and its bad.

Battling to even sleep after that, probably due to injuries but that was the worst forward line Lampard selected in years, I know there are injuries but the sooner the club gets rid of Willian, Pedro, Batshuayi the better for the team, obviously the first 2 great players but way past it while Batshuayi has never impressed so don’t know why we still hanging onto him for so long, any junior would not do worse at the very least,

there’s still a problem at the back we cannot defend or is it marking properly both goals could have been prevented while the keeper is imo a bigger liability than Kepa. The middle of the park we quite strong with plenty of options and more still coming once everyone is fit. Upfront I would definitely start the likes of Pulisic, Odoi, Abraham, Mount once they all available. Anyway in truth we have been somewhat unlucky in most of the points we dropped plus a lot of decisions have gone against us this season. Lampard still has a lot to learn.
