WHICH LIVERPOOL STAR WILL WIN POTY?
I predict Mane will win it
Songman
I think [Henderson] deserves to part of the conversation for POTY.
That in itself is no small feat.
He’s been so consistent. And exerts quite an influence on every game he plays.
How many points has he been worth this season, with his marking, interceptions, pressing, determination to win. And the passing, which he’s been criticized for in the past, has been world class at times.
That ball to play in Salah vs Southampton, absolutely disgusting. How do you defend against that?
It would be nice to see him win it. But there will be stiff competition from a few of our other lads.

Not forgetting Alisson with his clean sheets
Songman
I believe the top 5/6 are all Liverpool players bar De Bruyne.
Still 2.5 months left of the season so still all to play for.

The award is just a popularity contest, there is still a lot left of the season and I dont think all of our players have hit top form yet. Mo Salah has been excellent this season as well and he is still my favourite to top the scoring charts, as I’ve yet to see him hit top form and I daresay he is going to have the most of game time this season.
We also got the Champions League to focus on, a run of form there will swing the popular vote to anyone that produces the goods. I want to see old big ears at Anfield by the end of the season, claiming that trophy for the 2nd time in row will get people’s attention. This team ain’t no one hit wonder and I reckon Salah will prove that by the end of the year, with close to 30 goals in total.

MAN UTD’S STRUGGLES SUMMED UP
The issue is 4 managers since fergie retired all with different visions, philosophies and styles of play. With that comes different players to suit each manager’s vision.
For example, Jose bought tall powerful players like Matic, Zlatan, Bailly, Pogba, Lukaku. There are rumours he wasn’t behind the Fred or Sanchez deals.

ARE MCTOMINAY’S COMMENTS WORRYING?
Just read McT’s comments on Ighalo and Fernandes are a real cause of concern for me: They are really, really nice guys,” he told Sky Sports. “First and foremost they are good people. That’s what we need at this football club.
“We need people who are good friends, obviously, who can go to dinner.”
We don’t need good people, we don’t need fellas who are friends, we don’t need good friends. We need winners, we need hard nosed warriors who don’t give a f*** what anyone thinks, we certainly don’t need “nice” guys. Is this part of the problem at our club, too many f****** nice guys!
killyboye
He says they’re nice guys, but what we need are good people (read good characters).
I think what he’s trying to convey, is that we don’t want bad influences, we dont want people who come for the money, distance themselves from the team, and only communicate through their agents, don’t bother learning the language etc.
I totally agree Killyboye that on the pitch we need arrogance and nastiness.
I was actually pleased when De Gea and a few others went for the ref after the Liverpool VAR balls up this season, it was the first time in a while I thought they were genuinely upset and angry about what was happening on the pitch.
If you look at the players who have a healthy level of aggression and physicality, and are willing to use it on the pitch to control a game there’s not enough right now, there’s a bit in Williams, Matic we saw it against City to good effect, McTominay has it. We need more.
Mike2005
I think what he means is the opposite of Di Maria, Bastian, Depay and to an extent Pogba, players who don’t give a shit about the club and are only there for the money
libanski
Totally agree with Mike and Libanski here – think you’ve got the wrong end of the stick killy mate.

Maybe I do but to an extent we are seeing an extension of what’s wrong on the pitch. We have too many nice guys on the field. Yes, we want to create a team atmosphere where players work for each other but we also want to create a fortress. There seems to be too much acceptance of where we’re at. Players come out and say all the right things in pressers but we’re not seeing a change on the field the next match. At the moment I wouldn’t mind if we signed a player who’d put the cat amongst the pigeons and really shake up the playing staff. Really push them on the field to do better, be better and if that means a few of the players being pissed then good. It might allow some of the others to realise that what’s been happening, and what’s been acceptable, isn’t acceptable at all!

CHELSEA MUST AVOID DEFEAT AGAINST MAN UTD
We haven’t beaten United since OGS has taken their the reigns, our record against them reads 3 loses and 1 draw. and we need to reverse that record in our next meeting if we are to succeed in the race for top 4. this fixture came at a time when we are having difficulties, it could play in to our hands if we approach at the right way. not giving any space between our midifled and defence will be key to our prospect of winning that game.
I have rewatched the reverse fixture and just noticed the mistakes we have made in that game. we have given enough spaces between the lines. and that was due to the fact that Jorginho lacks the pace to close those spaces quickly. and Kovacic have been playing that far from him. Kante will give us an an interesting option. so in this game i would play 3-4-3. Kepa, Rudiger, Christensen, Tomori, James, Alonso. Kant
e Kovacic, Mount, Abraham Willian. what is your take on this match?
Chelsea.man
I agree its a must not lose game, not necessarily a must win game but Utd are there for the taking, especially without Rashford. They do seem to raise their game against the big guns though so that would be my only worry is that we’ll dominate the ball, not take our chances and get sucker punched with their only shot on target! I hope the lads, particularly Tammy benefit from this break to shake off niggles and recharge, we need everyone in top form for these next couple of league games!
Given our struggles at home, if we take 4 points from Utd and Spurs I´d fancy us to hang on to top 4.

WHO IS LIVERPOOL’S BRIGHTEST YOUNGSTER?
Another good performance by the lads, I still think Jones shines the most of them ATM. He got close control, seems to know where the empty goal is, can lay off a pass and his work rate is so good. A typical box to box midfielder, he ticks so many different boxes I cant call him a playmaker and he never sits and waits for the ball.
Elliott impressed me as well, it’s amazing considering how young he is, he is operating at a much higher level than Sterling was doing at the same age.
William’s was man of the match for me though, really good performance from him, with a bit more composure he could have had a goal or two.

HOW POGBA CAN FIT INTO DREAM MAN UTD SIDE
Think we have an option to extend his contract for a year. So he’ll either be sold or will sign a new contract.
happyhurling
Pogba has a cracked toe nail and will be out until after fashion week at least but possibly another 12 weeks after that.
roygbiv
I don’t think Ole will let him go. Certainly not easily. He’ll be thinking a midfield of Pogba and Fernandes will be a force to be reckoned with – with Fred or Scott behind them protecting slabhead and the suede!
A striker and a right winger to go with Rashford on the left and we’re a fuck load better than the team with Pereira, Lingard and Mata in it.
If Pogba goes it’ll be for a hive transfer I reckon.
happyhurling
@happy – Either Ole won’t still be here, or he won’t have a say in the matter anyway because the money men will decide, and he is just a gimp stooge.
There is absolutely zero value in keeping a problem player who’d rather be somewhere else and continually says so via the press and his scumbag agent, even if it was Ronaldo, Messi, or George Best back in the day.
Let’s be honest here mate, Pogba isn’t fit to lace any of those guys boots in a million years and would be no great loss, simple as that.
blacky
The problem is that we are faced with owners whose priority is profit and much of that comes from commercial income and keeping Pogba will help generate alot of that. The club stinks as much as Pogba’s attitude. I’m all for selling the creep but I suspect we will offer him a bumper new contract in the hope of keeping him? Until we get rid of the likes of Pogba and Martial, I doubt much will improve on the field.
