Mignolet bitter and clueless for Liverpool outbursts; Man Utd double swoop
Liverpool readers have strong feelings about Simon Mignolet’s recent comments about the club, while one Manchester United fan wants the Red Devils to sign two Premier League stars – all in Your Says of the Day.
Make sure to join in the debate here…
MIGNOLET COMES IN FOR CRITICISM
I somehow doubt that he was that professional, he couldn’t wait to have a go at Klopp, then he has a pop at the Kop and now some player in Belgium is on Bobby’s level… I defended him often during his time here but he can’t complain one bit about losing his spot in the team, I just figured out why I never took a liking to him…
NotoriousBingo
Journalists take comments and deliberately spin it into something controversial.
The comments I saw, he was just saying how he had no chance of getting in the team ahead of Alisson. He didn’t say it very well. But I’m sure that’s all he meant by it.
j c
This isnt his first outburst after leaving the club… I think these snide remarks actually describe him as a person rather well and if you agree with that you can also understand why he never got any better, kinda delusional about his own worth…
NotoriousBingo
I for one don’t find an issue with Migs comments. All he was saying was that it was impossible for him to get regular Football with Alisson around. Nothing wrong with that.
kopite
So you didnt take any offense about his statements about the Anfield crowd a month ago either… Its pretty obvious why he would not get a sustained run in the team, he is half the keeper Alison is and somehow he doesn’t see that, he cant even work out why Karius was preferred to him and that’s because Migs has never gone through more than 3 games without a blunder. It’s the reason why he could never convince the Kop that he was a good keeper… it has nothing to do with the crowd just his limited ability as a keeper.
NotoriousBingo
Migs turned on the club and he is bitter because of it, it would be better for him to focus on his career or whats left of it and salvage it instead of going every month to the media with a new take on Liverpool or on what went on behind the scenes here.
The thing is I can’t remember one single goalkeeper that has left the club in the last three decades that has twice gone vocal against the club a few months after his release.
You wanna defend him now, I can understand that but when he comes out for the third time lucky, you are gonna swing your vote around…
NotoriousBingo
Now I understand Migs, he is clueless… I’m really happy though that he has finally found his level…

OTHERS DEFEND MIGNOLET

Maybe I will be the only one on here to thank Migs., for his time playing for Liverpool. Most fans on here will state that he was awful, he did make mistakes ( all keepers do), but fans forget his penalty saves which saved many points for us.
He also played in a poor defence, never had the chance the chance to play with VVD & Robertson. He was also dropped when playing very well for Karius & we all know the disaster that happened.
Thank you Migs.,
liverlad
I’ll certainly second that. Overall, I think he was harshly treated by our ‘fans’, although I think the heaviest criticism came more from the keyboard warrior type fan. I’m glad that he’s gone, for his own sake, as he deserves to be playing and not spending another (nearly entire) season on the bench as he’s still in his prime years for a keeper at 31. A top bloke off the pitch as well. On top of all that, I think that Adrian is a great addition as the back-up and at least he’s come with the knowledge and acceptance that it’s for domestic cups and injury cover…so everything’s good.
Red Herring
I’ll go along with the thank you sentiments, he always gave his best (every keeper makes mistakes including Allison) and, as Red Herring says he made severl crucial penalty saves, in my book he did us a lot more good than bad and deserves our thanks for his contribution, it seems he’s a top bloke off the pitch too so good luck to him for the rest of his career.
YNWA RIP the 96
Scouser in exile
Always did his best & was unlucky to be dropped for Karius. Last season didn’t grumble playing second fiddle to Alisson. Good luck Migs Ynwa

RASHFORD OUT FOR MAN UTD AGAINST LIVERPOOL?
Liverpool have to be very wary in this game. United will do everything, and raise their game, to derail our title challenge.
They will even bring Ferguson along to manage the team.
Thus if we go ahead we must take the chance to destroy them completely, here’s hoping this happens.
Team picks itself really, same lineup as last week, unless Fabinho is ready to play
Songman
Looking like Rashford out injured.
gingerlfc
If Rashford is out, even more chance to crush them absolutely, we must take this opportunity
Songman
Not sure I believe anything about Rashford lads as the same was said about de gea in October and he started.
If he starts then my only concern is utd on the break as we only play with two at the back at times.
Still we are full of confidence and anfield will be rocking and I’m
Expecting a win
Sean the sailor
He ćame on as a sub and went off again 16mins later 4 days before the game.
While it may not defo confirmed he’s out, if it was one of our players I’d be pretty confident he wouldn’t be playing.
I don’t think Utd can gamble on Rashfords long term fitness by forcing him to play 1 game against us. They’ll need him fit and firing if they have any chance of finishing top 4. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

CHELSEA FANS PLEASED WITH GALLAGHER LOAN

Gallagher off to Swansea….
Stuilse
Good for him. We now can only hope he will feature regularly for Swansea as they compete for a play-off spot. If so, I think this loan experience will be beneficial for him and for Chelsea. We have Marc Guehi at Swansea too, so let’s hope both players will play regularly and will gain experience there.
aindro
Good move for Gallagher imo he will playing under Steve Cooper who he knows from England and who clearly wanted him and Gallagher will be playing with fellow England U17 players in Brewster and Guehi too who he won the U17 World Cup with.
Much better to play for a Championship side going for promotion rather than one fighting relegation or a PL side with limited games and hopefully Gallagher will get regular games at Swansea.

MAN UTD MUST SIGN TWO STARS

@Happy-Like @hatters has just said mate the problem is who we are targeting. Going after recognised PL players who are English is f****** crazy. Of course we are going to get taken to the cleaners. And now Sporting are looking at what we just paid for an inexperienced right back and an average enough centre back and are laughing at the £51M we are offering to take the best player in Portugal of their hands. The lack of a clear and consistent approach is causing all these problems. Just feels like we are constantly playing catch up
N1xer
He’s still 1/20 with the bookies to join us. It’ll be a monumental f*** up to mess this up from here.
Sign Maddison and Grealish in the summer and we’ll be good to go
Manthistle
@manthistle. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but the term “good to go” is a dangerous one on this forum.
hatters
Apparently we are looking at Marcos Llorente on loan with option to buy. Not getting much game time at Atletico but he’d definitely be an upgrade on Pereira and Matic in CM

Rumours this morning about Soumaré as well as Fernandes. Even I’ll be happy if we get that done.

DOES SOLSKJAER NEED A REALITY CHECK?
It’s hard to know what to make of OGS, is he saying good things about his players in public and f****** them out of it in private, or is he actually that delusional? Or is he realistic, does he know that this is about the best we can do? He knows where we want to go, where we should be but does he know where we ARE? Yes, some of his tactical decisions are odd, to say the least, but when push comes to shove, we’re not really better than we’re showing ourselves to be at the moment.
killyboye
I never understand why people pay attention to what managers and players say at press conferences.
Do you really think they will sit there and say “Yeah this squad isn’t anywhere near good enough, I wish we could get rid of this and that player.”
?
No, they will say anything and everything that they think will maximize their chances in whatever is the next game coming up.
And that includes not slating the players that you are stuck with for the time being, because of poor decisions made before you came in.
At the most Ole (and any other manager) will say something along the lines of “we are working with the squad we’ve got, we are looking to possibly make a few additions etc”
To each their own but personally I don’t think I’ve ever watched a press conference.
CR
But he didn’t have to say he was “delighted” with them did he CR?
jm1502
jm1502,
Fair enough, but it also depends who he was referring to. There are several players who I completely understand he’s delighted with.
I’m sure he knows the squad needs in and outs, but his hands are tied a bit in that respect.

PRAISE FOR BRANDON WILLIAMS, MATIC

Brandon Williams has had 6 clean sheets in his last 7 games in all competitions. Seems like he’s got a bright future ahead.
happyhurling
Well spotted happy, but I’ve been saying that about Brandon Williams virtually from his first game. Pity you can’t spot how f****** average Wolves are though mate.
jm1502
How about Matic tho? I think most of our clean sheets have come when he is in the team…he offers nothing in terms of getting forward but he at least uses his experience to help out the defence, a way better option than Andreas in that midfield two.
