Goodison Park: Billionaire Farhad Moshiri set to invest

TEAMtalk takes a closer look at Iranian-British businessman Farhad Moshiri, who is to acquire 49.9 per cent of Everton, subject to Premier League approval.

1. He’s got a few quid

According to Forbes, his net worth is US dollars 1.79billion (£1.29billion).

2. From Monaco to Merseyside

Moshiri lives in Monaco, reportedly splitting his time between there and London. He has UK citizenship, and is married with two children.

3. Family history

Moshiri, in a 2012 interview with Bloomberg, revealed his parents had to flee Iran in early 1979 just a few weeks before the political revolution in the country.

4. He knows his figures

Moshiri graduated with a BSc in economics and statistics from University College London. He is a chartered certified accountant who worked for Ernst & Young, Pannell Kerr Forster and Deloitte & Touche. He holds shares in numerous companies in the UK and Russia.

5. He’s swapped red for blue

Moshiri met Alisher Usmanov in the early 1990s and the pair became partners in several projects. In September 2007 Moshiri and Usmanov bought a 14.5 per cent stake in Arsenal. In 2013 they upped their stake in Arsenal to more than 30 per cent. Moshiri sold his 50 per cent share in Red & White Holdings Ltd to Usmanov before investing in Everton.
