Fears from Italy that Man Utd are main threat in chase for Brescia sensation
Manchester United are the main threat to AC Milan for the signing of brilliant Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali, claims a report in Italy.
United are just one of several European clubs monitoring 19-year-old Tonali, with Calciomercato claiming last week that Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and United have all registered an interest in the central midfielder.
In fact all three clubs sent scouts to watch Brescia’s 4-3 home defeat to Bologna last Sunday with Tonali being subbed for the 10-man hosts on 79 minutes.
Tonali is though a serious target for Milan after the Serie A giants reportedly made a bid believed to be around €15-20m, plus the option of loaning him back to Brescia for a season.
Calciomercato now claim Milan’s Paolo Maldini and the rest of the club’s hierarchy are still keen on an another approach for Tonali. However, they also suggest that United are also firmly in the race, having scouted him on numerous occasions.
Calcio think United are in fact the ‘main threat’ to Milan for Tonali’s signing as both clubs wait for the price tag placed upon him by Brescia moneyman Massimo Cellino.
“My dream is to live football,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I have fun and I slave away for it willingly, but I know I can’t mess up now: I don’t have a plan B…
“Promotion to Serie A was the greatest emotion of my life after being called up to the national team.
“Whatever my future is, I’ll make a decision with my President. Cellino is a good man. He knows what the best solution is for my future.
“I’m happy to stay here. Maybe I could become an icon for Brescia. I don’t have a preference over Inter, Juve, Milan and Roma, I’m just interested in playing.”
