LUIZ ALREADY AN ARSENAL FLOP

It’s easy for us to sit here and criticise emery but when I said he has complicated decisions this is what I meant.

As far as our back up right back goes.We have AMN,Mustafi and chambers to choose from. You have AMN who has the attributes,he’s been trained in that position for more than 2 years.Yet he’s now incapable, possibly the worst “defending” right back we’ve ever had. Then there’s Mustafi. Not at right back for me.I’d start chambers there. He’s our best option in terms of defending. And whenever he’s played there he’s been decent.

As for our centre halves.Signing Luiz was nothing more than a panic buy for Koscielny.Chambers did well there in the first game of the season. But when you sign someone like luiz, you have to start him at least at first.

For me,I’d rather start chambers as a partner to Sokratis.Chambers,Holding or Mustafi.Yes Mustafi,if he can get his confidence back he can offer more than Luiz.

People don’t understand how bad luiz is.I’ve been noticing him very closely, the guy just backs up everytime someone’s running at him only to put in a challenge when they’re INSIDE THE PENALTY AREA to award them one.I thought he’d bring experience to this side but he’s playing like a rookie. There seems to be no leadership as well.
I have no confidence in luiz, already made 3 errors this season.I say accept that he’s a flop and play someone else there.

At chelsea,he had Kante and Jorginho to cover for him. He’s a good ball playing defender, and he always had both of them to pass to.At Arsenal he has Guendozi and Xhaka both of whom who can nowhere near replicate the jobs of what he had at chelsea.

Emery needs to sort himself out, he has had long enough now and made big squad changes…if he cant see the same mistakes being made game after game and do nothing about them something is wrong, he seems to be AW mark 2 at the moment, odd player selections and no clue about defense…….simple

coaching and tactics are all him and HE is the one making them play out of defense when they are not good enough to do so….

no point calling out individuals every game unless they are serial offenders (Xhaka,AMN, Luis)

I started to question Emery’s decision making after the home game against Palace last year. A smart coach would have looked at the remaining fixtures and targeted that game as a must win and would have put out his strongest eleven. Since then we have been in a downwards spiral with a coach who does not seem to be able to establish a playing style for the team. At least with Wenger you know that the plan was to retain possession and outscore the other team – simple. This year Emery has parked the bus against Liverpool, played three defensive midfield players at home against Spurs and started Ozil in an away game, something he refused to do last year. Against Watford his excuse for taking off Ceballos was that “it’s s hot day” – he’s Spanish for goodness sake! For me Ceballos along with Auba were our best midfield players. The subs who came on were all over the place, it looked like they had been thrown on with very little tactical instructions – there was no Plan B. With the new set up at the Club the coach can be fired with minimal impact on the football operations so I expect that if after a dozen or so games a top four finish is in serious doubt then he will be fired. As a fan it’s hard to warm to him; the team has no noticeable playing style, has no settled first eleven, and the defensive frailties remain. Easy to blame the back four but the coach must take responsibility for the lack of team defensive shape that allows a team like Watford 31 attempts at goal.

BARKLEY FEELING THE PRESSURE

I’m guessing Barkley is feeling the pressure to claim his place in the team. It’s not really coming together for him at the moment, so he saw an opportunity to make an impact. Unfortunately for all concerned, he made a complete mess of it.

We only have one playmaker right now. and that is Mount, others hide behind him like they used to hide behind Hazard. and once Mount left the pitch, it was evident that we would struggle to score. and with our suspect defence, it was a case of when? once Mount left it should have been Pulisic and not Pedro. and then again i’m negative what do i know? Abraham was denied service. Azpi could have gone and Willian could have gone right wing back. and we would have retained that Aerial superiority. can only see another 3 points for Liverpool.

Chelsea lost their way a bit when Mount went off tonight it was a bad tackle and if it wasn’t a Red it was very close to one.

Overall that was probably our worst performance of the season.

Hopefully we’ve got that performance out of our system and Mount might be fit for Sunday given all of the injuries.

Makes getting out of the Group a bigger challenge now and if you get a gift like the penalty you have to take it.

Have to say though I don’t like UEFA’s interpretation on handballs in the penalty area and would have been disappointed had that penalty been given against us.

There will be lots of controversy this season in UEFA games on the basis of tonights decision and what we saw in the CL towards the end of last season.

nine nine nine

we held our own against Valencia and everyone needs to stay grounded and realise that the expectations are not high this season. Getting out of the Group would be a great effort however chances are we will drop down to the Europa League so what will be will be. This season is all about growing and building something big for the future and our youth is getting the chance to thrive. That is good enough for me. I am sure the majority of sensible Chelsea supporters would concur with those thoughts. We need to be a little carefree 🙂

LIVERPOOL MIDFIELD PROBLEMS EXPOSED

Whilst we generally played well, I still think need more from the midfield in such games. We just ended up with Salah and Mané running into trouble and losing the ball. Did worry a bit when I saw that midfield, but obviously accept we had to rotate a bit after the weekend.

Indeed that midfield tonight scored a total of 9 goals last season, 5 of which were Milner penalties, 1 of which was a Fabinho header. So there were just 3 goals from open play from them.

Mikus

This defeat was a good wakeup call for Liverpool, mainly to teach the boys to be more  clinical in finishing, and the defence not to be sloppy. And the defeat is not that damaging  as long as we get our act together immediately and aim to win all the remaining group games.

Time to come back much stronger with a vengeance on Sunday, and get the 3 points

Songman

We’ve struggled through the group phase for the last 2 years and still made the finals, so not over-concerned yet, particularly as we’ve now got the most difficult game out of the way. I’d like to think that VVD’s mistake for the second goal wouldn’t have happened if the penalty hadn’t been given as he was just taking a risk to keep possession and launch an attack instead of just clearing it anywhere.

Everything else has already been said, except to mention the poor pass from Mane to Salah in the second half. Now, I don’t want to even consider the idea that it was a deliberate bad pass (i.e. he’s still simmering about the incident at Burnley); but then you watch it again and it’s hard to believe that someone of Mane’s ability could not have played him in better than he did. No, I don’t want to even go there……everyone makes mistakes and let’s just accept that it was an unfortunate mistake for us.

Red Herring

I agree with Mikus & I have stated many times our midfielders do not score enough goals, pity Keita is always injured as I thought he might have come up with the goals.

DO MAN UTD NEED TONALI, SANCHO?

The thing is, what DM should we get? We’re linked with Tonali who we probably need but he’s not a priority in my eyes. We need two deep lying CM’s, one Kante type who reads the game well and breaks up attacks. Then we need a playmaker who’s happy to sit deep, do a defensive shift, receive the ball off our ‘Kante’ and then spray the ball around for Pogba and our forwards to work with. Does McT fill either of these roles? Not sure. Does Matic? No way. Pogba’s better further up as evidenced when he had Pirlo and Vidal behind him.

Tonali is a box to box man with great ability as well. Can do the lot from what I’ve seen. It’s about time we took a punt on the next new kid on the block but I doubt it’ll happen.

Sandro Tonali TEAMtalk

I suppose Tonali is a Pirlo type player so we probably do need him in that sense, I think McT isn’t an out and out defensive midfielder, he’s not a playmaker and he’s not a No. 10. I think he’s a bit of a Pogba but nowhere near as good. Ultimately I think McT will be a squad player, a rotation/backup. Our priority in midfield needs to be a DM, an anchorman to sit in front of the CB’s and break up attacks and start our own attacks. If we can get Tonali for a good price then I’d go for him as well.

J.Sancho had another sublime performance last night,we simply have to do everything it takes and bring him to OT.T.Cantwell of Norwich City is another very talented, young,English player we should be keeping an eye on.Reminds me a bit of Deco everytime I see him play.

redblood

No chance of getting Tonali out of Italy. We can forget about that. Nonstarter. He’ll end up at one of the big Italian teams like 95% of Italian players.

If Sancho comes back to England next summer then i think he’ll end up at Utd unless something strange happens. I guess the hope has to be that we didn’t spunk the Lukaku money or go crazy in the market because it has been set aside for the likes of Sancho. Only time will tell

why would Sancho want to leave Borussia Dortmund, and come to United of all teams?

At the moment he’s riding high in Germany, no signs of a 2nd season slump and is competing for the German league and playing high level CL football… why would he come and struggle to get into the Top Four at United surrounded by players who play with half the heart that the Dortmund players do?

As heartbreaking as it sounds, I have a feeling that Klopp will pull off a masterstroke and sell Salah to Real Madrid for a crazy amount and will replace him with Sancho at far less and Liverpool’s attack will actually improve (scarily enough).
