Fee within Leeds reach for French target as five Euro giants join hunt
Leeds United have learned the asking price to sign talented French midfielder Romain Faivre this summer – but they now face strong competition from up to five big-name European suitors for his signature.
The Brest midfielder has been earmarked as a possible summer recruit by Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa. Faivre has enjoyed a brilliant season in Ligue 1, with six goals and five assists to his name. Faivre’s performances for Les Pirates have certainly been turning heads. Back in January, it was reported that Manchester United were keeping tabs on him.
However, if Leeds are to win the race, they face strong competition for his signature. According to Le Parisien, Faivre is also of interest to PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino. The report claims the Ligue 1 giants have already established contact over a potential summer swoop.
However, it’s claimed PSG and Leeds are not alone in expressing an interest either. As per the report, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen have also been linked with a move.
That will mean Leeds may have to act fast if they are to land Faivre. However, Le Parisien does suggest it will be a two-horse race to sign the player.
That’s because Brest have stuck a €15m – €20m asking price on Faivre’s head. And it’s claimed that only Leeds and PSG are willing to stump up the fee on his head.
Furthermore, they state Faivre also has an admiration for the Premier League.
However, PSG do look favourites given he has what’s described as ‘special affection’ towards them.
