Ferdinand names the one obstacle blocking Man Utd Kane move

Rio Ferdinand has named the one thing that would be the biggest hurdle to overcome if Man Utd stepped up their pursuit of Harry Kane.

The Tottenham and England striker has been one of the most consistent strikers in world football since his ascension to the first team, notching an incredible 176 goals from 252 appearances in all competitions over the last six seasons.

Spurs are understandably keen to keep hold of their talismanic striker, with a recent report suggesting Jose Mourinho could launch a €70m bid to find the 27-year-old the perfect strike partner.

Kane is on course to overcome a hamstring injury to go straight back into the starting line up if and when the season resumes this summer, but speculation over a move to Old Trafford has never been far away.

Dealing with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is difficult at the best of times, leading to one newspaper revealing the one thing Man Utd would need in order to accelerate the transfer process.

However, Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand has had his say on the matter, expressing his admiration for the forward but noting the one man that would likely prevent any potential transfer from materialising.

Speaking on Instagram Live (via Goal) the former centre-half said: “Would I take Harry Kane now? Of course you would.

“If he’s fit and he’s raring to go, you take Harry Kane at Man Utd, 100 per cent.

“Top player, you’re guaranteeing goals, in the Premier League you’re guaranteeing goals. This geezer scores goals but I don’t see Tottenham letting Harry Kane go.

“And with Mourinho there, I don’t see Mourinho letting him go to Man Utd.”

Meanwhile, an ex-Man Utd midfielder and current pundit has made a big claim about the future of on-loan goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The Blades stopper has been in excellent form this season, leading to speculation that he could be recalled next season and given the gloves in favour of incumbent goalkeeper David de Gea.
