Five Bundesliga players who could follow Pulisic to the Premier League

One Bundesliga player who has already made the jump from Germany to England is Chelsea’s new signing Christian Pulisic – but who could follow him?

With the January transfer window in full swing, could there yet be more who follow in his footsteps and play Premier League football in 2019?

1. James Rodriguez (Bayern Munich)

His arrival at Bayern Munich was seen as a real bargain deal for the German champions. The Columbian joined Bayern on a two-year loan deal for a measly €13m and enjoyed a solid first season helping his side to a sixth straight German title – scoring seven goals and making 13 assists along the way.

However, in recent months things have really taken a downturn for the forward. Bayern have failed to impress last autumn while Rodriguez‘ playing time under new manager has been severely cut.

Word now has it that the 27-year-old could be on his way to Arsenal should the London side offload Mesut Ozil and free up the club’s finances.

2. Timo Werner (RB Leipzig)

“Playing in the Premier League is a dream for me. I would like to play for two or three clubs, and Manchester United are one of those clubs.”

Those were the words of Timo Werner when he spoke to FourFourTwo magazine last March. While Manchester United may not be showing much interest at this present moment, rivals Liverpool certainly are.

According to the Daily Mirror, the striker was given an ultimatum by his current club RB Leipzig – sign the new deal or leave. Liverpool have been keeping a close eye on the 22-year-old and should the player decide to leave Eastern Germany, the Reds will no doubt come knocking on his door.

3. Maximilian Philipp (Borussia Dortmund)

One player who is keen to leave Borussia Dortmund in search of game time is Maximilian Philipp. The 24-year-old has scored one goal in 11 Bundesliga games and is on the radar of Newcastle United.

Philipp initially featured quite regularly however, he quickly lost his place to Paco Alcacer who has been in sensational form. In fact, Paco has scored a total of six goals whenever he has replaced Philipp from the bench.

The only thing stopping the move from happening are the terms of the deal: Dortmund are keen to sell the player while Newcastle would prefer him on loan.

4. Denis Zakaria (Borussia Monchengladbach)

With Mousa Dembele set to leave Tottenham to Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan, Spurs are out on the hunt for a replacement.

One man who the London side have had their sights on is Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria. The Swiss-born midfielder has made 39 appearances and scored three goals for Die Fohlen.

What’s more, last year he turned down a deal to go to Arsenal making him an instant fan favourite with the Tottenham faithful.

5. Florian Grillitsch (Hoffenheim)

Another man who Tottenham have kept a close eye on is Hoffenheim’s Florian Grillitsch. The 23-year-old still has over two-and-a-half years left on his contract however, Spurs are keen on the midfielder following a string of impressive performances.

With the club failing to make a signing over the summer transfer period, many are hoping for Daniel Levy to get his cheque book out and strengthen in January.
