Former Real Madrid star Luis Figo has urged Cristiano Ronaldo to reject Manchester United and stay at the Bernabeu this summer.

The 33-year-old has been linked with a return to Old Trafford, with reports claiming that he is unhappy with his current level of pay as he wishes to earn as much as Neymar and Lionel Messi.

He sparked further speculation with his comments after Real’s 3-1 Champions League final win over Liverpool in Kiev.

However, Figo believes that his countryman should appreciate what Los Blancos have given to him.

“Many times, what you want or what you are going to be doesn’t depend only on you but on other factors that so many don’t realise,” he said.

“But Ronaldo is at the best club in the world and I think that he should finish his career here.

“Logically for him, it has been shown that what he has gained and did in Madrid wouldn’t happen everywhere.

“Madrid have also given him a lot in terms of prestige and that has also helped him to win individually.”
