Former Liverpool attacker discusses possible January return

Former Liverpool forward Suso has refused to rule out a stunning return to Anfield as the Reds search for Philippe Coutinho’s replacement.

Jurgen Klopp is looking to strengthen his attacking options, following Coutinho’s big-money move to Barcelona, and has been strongly tipped to land Sporting Lisbon’s Gelson Martins.

Other targets, however, have included former Anfield winger Suso, who is currently playing for AC Milan.

The Spain star has been outstanding in what has been a tough season for the Rossoneri – and with the Serie A giants also struggling financially, they have been tipped to cash in on the 24-year-old.

Suso made just 14 Premier League appearances for the Reds, after joining the club’s academy in 2010, before he moved to Italy when his contract expired in 2015.

Milan, however, were eventually made to pay €1.3million to Liverpool in compensation for the player.

Despite only recently signing a new deal with the club, Suso took it upon himself to explain the transfer rumours on his Facebook page.

“I recently signed an important renewal, but I think about the field. My agent thinks about the market,” he wrote.

“First thing: I do not care about the clause. For me, only results on the field matter. The second thing: I need have respect for a historical and special club like AC Milan, which has bet on me and invested a lot. Third: in any case, only what I want matters.

“And for now I just want to stay here. Everything else is just chatter. Forza Milan, Suso.”
