Former player makes huge claim that Toure will replace Can at Liverpool
Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure will sign for Liverpool on a free transfer this summer, according to former Liverpool player David Thompson.
The Ivorian played his last game for Man City in their final Premier League home match of the season against Brighton, which the champions won 3-1.
There has been much speculation as to where the City legend will end up with some predicting he will look for one final payday further afield in the lucrative Chinese Super League.
However, Thompson has claimed he has “heard” that Toure will stay in England with Champions League finalists Liverpool.
“Hearing reports we are signed YAYA Toure on a free as replacement for Emre Can makes sense #lfc,” he said on Twitter.

It isn’t clear if Thompson is joking or not but he did previously make a prediction that Virgil van Dijk – who now plays for Liverpool – was “on his way” to Anfield last summer.
He was wrong at the time as Van Dijk ended up staying at Southampton for another six months before eventually completing his move to the Reds.
One thing that is clear is Toure wants to carry on his career after eight years with Man City and he is keen to stay in the Premier League.
“Of course, I want to stay in England,” Toure said before his final appearance. “I have maybe one or two years more to play. To go to China or Abu Dhabi, it looks for myself to get more money. Of course, people are going to be happy to get more money, but that’s not my point of view.”
Emre Can has been unable to agree a new contract with Liverpool and is reportedly likely to complete a move on a free transfer to Juventus after the Champions League final.
That leaves Liverpool with a potential hole in their midfield for next season despite the long-awaited addition of Naby Keita in the summer.
