Asamoah Gyan: Failed Reading medical

Former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan has dismissed recent transfer speculation suggesting he will be on the move to Chelsea this summer.

The 30-year-old became the centre of recent rumours suggesting he was making a return to the Premier League with the Blues looking out for a striker.

Currently plying his trade in the Chinese Super League with Shanghai SIPG, the Ghanian international has struggled with injuries during his time there and it was understood he was possibly considering his future at the club.

The striker reportedly became one of the highest-paid players in the world after signing for SIPG from UAE outfit Al Ain but has struggled to emulate the same form he showed for Abu Dhabi club, where he scored 95 goals in 83 games.

However, the former Black Cats star spoke to Ghanian radio staion BOSS FM to cool any speculation regarding a potential move this summer.

“I don’t believe in internet stories,” said Gyan.

“There is nothing happening like I’m joining Chelsea FC. There hasn’t been any offer.

“My team is not sacking me. All these stories are not true.”
