Former Tottenham Hotspur and Everton star Gary Stevens has urged Liverpool to splash out on current Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen this summer.
The Danish midfielder has continued to impress for the North London side, netting seven goals and laying on 13 to help Spurs’ push for a Premier League top-four spot and earn them a Champions League quarter-final tie with Manchester City.
His performances have attracted attention from the likes of Real Madrid, who are reportedly looking to rebuild under Zinedine Zidane this summer following a poor season which is likely to end without the club picking up silverware.
However, according to former Spurs man Stevens, Liverpool should be on the list of clubs pursuing Eriksen’s signature.
“I think Liverpool need to sign a player that will get into any side,” the 56-year-old said. ““I think Christian Eriksen would be brilliant for Liverpool.
“He creates things, he makes things happen, gets on the ball and scores goals. And if you look at his stats, he covers the yards.”
Liverpool were looking for a creative midfielder last summer, with a deal for Lyon’s Nabil Fekir falling through at the eleventh hour.
