Fresh Liverpool stance puts Man Utd in pole position for Dortmund ace

Liverpool’s summer transfer stance appears to have given Manchester United the green light to complete a move for Jadon Sancho.

The England international is known to be one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top targets this summer, after United missed out on a deal for the winger at the end of last season.

Reports had claimed that Liverpool had informed Dortmund that they were interested and wanted to be kept up to date on the player’s situation, with one source claiming that they would get their man.

Indeed, the Bundesliga giants are expected to cash in on Sancho at the end of the season and will demand a figure of around £120million for the 19-year-old.

But according to The Athletic’s Blood Red podcast, Liverpool will not be moving for Sancho unless one of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino leave – which is now being seen as highly unlikely.

That decision leaves United in a strong position to continue Solskjaer’s project of landing young British players to improve the overhaul core of his squad.

Meanwhile, United have been told they could challenge for the Premier League title if they signed Kalidou Koulibaly, Sancho and Jack Grealish in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to BT Sport pundit Robbie Savage, who thinks Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not that far away from having a title-winning squad, despite Liverpool currently being 38 points clear of the Red Devils. Read more…
