Fulham are poised to sign Calvin Bassey for around £18m and a Callum Hudson-Odoi hijack is well underway

A Marco Silva U-turn has prompted Fulham to hijack a Chelsea sale, while an even bigger deal involving Ajax has been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.

Silva recently reaffirmed his loyalty to Fulham when rejecting an eye-watering offer to leave for Saudi Arabia. Al Ahli offered the Portuguese a salary worth £40m for a two-year commitment. Despite initial speculation Silva would ditch the Cottagers, he ultimately rejected the Saudi advances.

According to Fabrizio Romano, one particular Fulham transfer plan was on hold until Silva’s future became clear.

That plan involved Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi who Serie A giant Lazio were intent on signing. In fact, per Romano, Lazio’s move was “advanced”.

However, with Silva remaining in the capital, Fulham have accelerated their move for the Chelsea winger and a hijack is both underway and expected to succeed.

Romano tweeted Fulham have tabled a verbal offer for the Chelsea wideman worth £4m.

The Blues are holding out for £8m, though Romano stressed negotiations over the move are “advanced” and Fulham are “confident” they’ll wrap up a deal within the next couple of days.

Ajax coup gets “here we go” treatment

However, the arrivals won’t end there and one may in fact become official before Hudson-Odoi.

Indeed, the Cottagers sized up a new left-footed centre-half and fixed their gaze on Southampton’s Mohammed Salisu and Ajax’s Calvin Bassey.

The latter, 23, is the player Fulham have settled on and per Romano, a deal is on the cusp of completion.

An agreement worth €21m (approx. £18m) has been struck between Fulham and Ajax, while Bassey has already completed the first part of his medical.

Romano concluded the move could cross the finish line on Saturday and gave the deal his signature “here we go” confirmation.
