Nottingham Forest have the greenlight to secure a stunning double deal involving a Wolves starter and Dean Henderson who is ‘ready to end’ his Man Utd career, per a report.

Forest confounded expectations last season when beating the drop and will hope a successful summer window will see the club kick on in their second season back in the top flight.

However, manager Steve Cooper is currently facing great uncertainty in a position that can make or break a season.

Indeed, goalkeepers Dean Henderson and Keylor Navas have both returned to their parent clubs following successful loan spells last term.

Elsewhere, Wayne Hennessey is expected to miss the start of the season after sustaining a knee injury. Ethan Horvath is still recovering from an injury picked up in the play-off final while loaned to Luton Town.

Forest intended to sign Henderson to a permanent deal, though found Man Utd difficult to deal with. The Red Devils have goalkeeper issues of their own, with David de Gea recently leaving as a free agent.

As such, Football Insider claimed United were blocking Henderson’s exit until they’d got their ducks in a row. Andre Onana is their primary target and a move from Inter Milan will accelerate over the next 48 hours.

FI suggested Forest could pull the plug on their Henderson move and explore other targets. However, according to the Telegraph, not only is their Henderson deal very much in play, but they also have the greenlight to sign Wolves’ Jose Sa too.

Firstly, the Telegraph report Henderson remains their No 1 target and the 26-year-old ‘is now prepared for a new challenge’ away from Man Utd for good.

The England international is deemed ‘ready to end’ his 12-year association with United, and if a suitable transfer can be agreed, both United and Forest are willing to do business.

While not stated in the Telegraph, prior outlets have claimed United are seeking between £25m-£30m for Henderson.

In any case, the Telegraph add Henderson is ‘poised to move to the City Ground on a long-term deal’.

But with Henderson a doubt for the start of the season due to his ongoing recovery from thigh surgery, a second and equally high profile stopper is wanted.

Wolves’ Jose Sa is the player Forest have locked on to and per the Telegraph, Wolves are willing to sanction a sale.

As such, the greenlight has been granted and Forest are in the clear to pursue a move. Signing both Henderson and Sa would give Cooper’s side a superb one-two punch between the sticks.

Forest and Wolves are understood to have held initial discussions over the transfer of the Portugal international.
