Steven Gerrard cannot understand why people continue to compare him and Frank Lampard despite them both quitting international football.
Gerrard and Lampard both retired from England duty after the World Cup last year, yet comparisons between the two – often accused of being unable to play together – have continued since both made the move to Major League Soccer.
Gerrard said: “I was hoping people would finally stop comparing me with Frank after moving here.
“He’s a legend and certainly one of those high-end players who will help lift the quality of this league.
“But we’ve both drawn a line under our England careers so I don’t see any reason why we should bring that topic up again. It was always a media thing – we get along just fine.”
After years of being one of the most famous faces in the country as Liverpool and England captain, Gerrard is enjoying the quieter life in America.
He added: “For the first time we are able to enjoy our family life in peace. I have oceans of time to spend with the kids now. I’m there to take them to school in the morning.
“I pick them up in the afternoon and we go to the beach together. The kids love it so much they have even started calling me Superdad. Can you imagine?”
