Gers produce Tynecastle turnaround

Sunday’s match started badly for Walter Smith’s men at Tynecastle when Kevin Thomson – making his first start since suffering a serious knee injury nine months ago – was shown a straight red card on 13 minutes.

Referee Craig Thomson sent the midfielder off for a late sliding tackle on the Jambos’ Ian Black.

David Witteveen (31) then fired the Jambos into a half-time lead, the ball fumbled over the line by Gers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

Lee McCulloch equalised on 63 minutes with a fine flicked header from Stevie Smith’s free-kick.

Boyd came off the bench and when Steven Naismith was tripped in the box by Ismael Bouzid, he secured the win from the penalty spot in the final minute.
