Rudy Gestede: Tipped for Middlesbrough move

Rudy Gestede is adamant Aston Villa will improve under new boss Remi Garde and insists the squad has the belief to get out of trouble.

The Villans were thumped 4-0 at Everton on Saturday in what was only Garde’s second match in charge since the Frenchman replaced the axed Tim Sherwood.

Garde’s side sit at the bottom of the Premier League but summer signing Gestede claims the Villa squad has within it the character and positivity required to escape a relegation battle.

The striker said: “We are in the Premier League and we have to do everything we can to stay there.

“It won’t be easy. We didn’t start well but there are still plenty of games to play and plenty of points to take.

“Nothing is finished. We have to keep going.

“We have to keep working in training – and improve.”

Gusted believes Villa will start to pick up points once Garde has been able to make his mark on the squad.

Speaking to the Villa website, he added: “We have a new manager in Remi Garde.

“He has his plan in his head and wants to put this on to the pitch.

“We are going to improve.

“We are looking to win games. It’s a big match for us next weekend. We will fight to get some points.

“We have the belief – otherwise you can’t carry on.

“We have to pick up some points and make sure we get out of this position.”
