Giroud twist threatens to derail Arsenal’s Aubameyang pursuit

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s proposed Arsenal move risks being derailed due to Olivier Giroud, a report claims.

According to Sky Sports news, Olivier Giroud will not be leaving Arsenal for Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window, claim Sky sources.

Reports claimed that the Frenchman could move on loan to Dortmund as a replacement for Aubameyang, who is tipped for a move to the Gunners this month.

However, the report claims that Dortmund “initially raised the prospect of signing Giroud on loan” but it was instantly rejected by Arsenal and declared off the table.

Earlier on Thursday, reports in Germany suggested that Dortmund could end any prospect of Aubameyang leaving the club.

Kicker claims that the Bundesliga giants are getting tired at the length of time that negotiations are taking, after main suitors Arsenal were told that it would €70m (£60m) for them to land the 27-year-old.

The Gunners are looking to sign the Gabon star as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez and had been hoping to get a deal over the line before the end of January.
