Goals are a bonus for Andreu
The Frenchman has netted 13 times this season, with his 12 league goals keeping him ahead of Aberdeen striker Adam Rooney, Inverness Caley’s Billy McKay, Dundee United’s Nadir Ciftci and Greg Stewart of Dundee, who are all on nine.
Despite his success in finding the net throughout the campaign, Andreu insists he is looking no further than the next game.
“To be fair I didn’t think about that when I started the season,” Andreu said, speaking ahead of Saturday’s Sky Live clash against Celtic at New Douglas Park.
“I like to score but I didn’t expect to be top. Players like Ciftci and Rooney they are born strikers. I’m not focused on scoring. It’s just a bonus.
“I’m a midfielder I just want to play well, to work and make some good passes. I’ve been consistent which is really important for a player. But there’s a long way to go.
“You want to achieve a lot of things. I won’t stop now. I want to play even better.”
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Norwich, after former Accies boss Alex Neil moved to the English Championship club last Friday.
But Andreu claims he is unperturbed by the speculation, and will remain focused on doing his best for high-flying Hamilton.
“I haven’t received a call so to be fair, I can’t say anything. It’s just speculation for now. I haven’t had an offer so I’m just focused on Celtic,” Andreu said.
“I’ve been here for a year and a half and I’m delighted to be here. I just focus on the football. Fortunately for me it doesn’t affect my performance. If something happens in the future then so be it, but just now I’m here.”
